On Sept. 20, Goals for Life held its fifth annual fundraiser at the alfresco setting adjoining Gladstone’s Restaurant. More than 325 people attended to enjoy the gourmet food, provided by Gladstone’s and La Strada Italiano restaurants while taking in the spectacular harbor view.
Goals for Life Community Hero Awards were given to former Rams quarterback Vince Ferragamo and former Superintendent of the Norwalk-La Mirada Unified School District Ginger Shattuck. Both individuals exemplify a life of service and to improving the lives of more than 25,000 students.
Former NFL football players, community leaders and friends joined to party with a purpose.
The evening raised more than $50,000 for the cause of helping at-risk youth in the Long Beach and surrounding area schools. For more than 25 years, Goals for Life has been providing academic support, mentoring and goal setting tools for youth in public classroom settings in both middle and high schools. These students are provided with a caring male role model for the entire academic school year.
